993 purchase?
I found this 1995 993 for sale. curious if you guys think its a good idea or not. 28k. he emailed me records for 1998 to 2000 and 2007-on. id prefer full service records right? the body looks great. interior is great too. just the bolster on the driver's side is rough.
Here are some pictures and more information about the car. I bought the car 14 months ago from a Porsche dealer in Dallas. When I bought it they printed off the service history from their computer. They said the prior owner bought it CPO from them in 1998 and had it serviced there until 2000. It has a couple minor oil leaks - both valve cover gaskets and I think the chain cover. You might get one drip once in a while. It is just moist. I have the receipt where the prior owner had the left valve cover gasket fixed. There is a 2 year warranty on the work and I confirmed my Porsche dealer would fix it under that warranty if necessary. I haven't had it done yet because I was waiting to get closer to when the 2 years is up in April 2008. I think those valve cover leaks are pretty common on the 993. I have done a little work to it. The clutch was hanging a little, another common issue with early 993s. So I updated the clutch kinematic lever and while I was there replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders and the rubber hose running to the slave for good measure. The only other problem I have had was that the driver's side window switch broke. I replaced that and bought a spare just in case. I had planned to keep the car for a while, but I found a 2002 Carrera 4S when I was traveling on business and got such a great deal on it that I bought it. Unfortunately, I can't keep both or I would. Since I have had it I replaced the stereo speakers and installed an Alpine CD with a cord that allows you to control your Ipod from the unit. I have the original Porsche cassette deck and 6-disk changer as well. I have a bunch of pictures of it I can send you. Many were taken by the dealer who sold it to me, so the interior pictures still show the old stereo. I replaced the old 16 inch rims with 18 inch OEM Porsche rims (they have the Porsche part number stamped in them). The tires have about 75% life on them and are Yokohama AVS sports. When I bought it, the dealer told me they thought the hood and/or a fender may have been resprayed but that there was no evidence of an accident. The body panels are all original and I have gone over it with a magnet to look for bondo and didn't find anything. I also have taken off the plastic wheel liners and everything looks original, so my guess is the prior owner did it to cover up paint chips. All in all, I have really enjoyed the cart. I just can't have 2 Porsches right now. Let me know if you have any other questions. |

Perhaps he meant that 28k is the mileage, but I thought it was the price.
That’s the only missing piece, though, mileage. The rest of the issues, broken door switch, moist valve cover, clutch kinematic lever and slave cylinder, etc, are all trivial.
