17" light alloy wheels?

My 993 was delivered new in 95 with these, I'd like to see what they look like if anyone has a handy picture or could point me to a website. My 993 has chrome wheels that aren't too my liking as the traditional look is usually more my speed.

When looking over my window sticker I notice the three highest price options were midnight blue seats, the wheels and the remote changer. I rarely use the CD. ABD and paint close behind in price.
Thanks.

Leo

There were several different wheel options in '95, the most common was Cup2, AKA Cup Design 93, in 17 seen here

7x17ET55
7.5x17ET65 needs spacers
9x17ET55
9x17ET52

Bill,

Thanks, nice look on those stock wheels, I think they'd go good with my polar silver coupe. Regarding 16" wheels, are there any advantages? Out here on the west coast the trend in general is to bigger and bigger wheels that start to look sort of ridiculous, but they attract attention. In fact, the speaker of the house of the CA legislature was carjacked a few weeks ago for his 22" rims on his Dodge Charger.

As a novice in the car (Porsche) world, the only advantage I could see is a higher profile tire, offering more suspension in the really rough CA freeways and streets. Sort of a smoother ride.

Thanks.

Leo

In general the taller sidewall of a 16will ride better and handle potholes better than the shorter sidewalls of a 17 or 18.

In 16 the tire sizes usually used are
stock 205/55 & 245/45 or oversize front 225/50 & 245/45 on 7" & 9" wheels

In 17
stock 205/50 & 255/40 or oversize 225/50 & 255/40 or 235/45 & 265/40 on 7" & 9" wheels

In 18
stock 225/40 & 265/35 or oversize 235/40 & 265/35 or 235/40 & 275/35 on 8" & 10" wheels

I use 235/45 & 275/40 on 8" & 9.5" x17 on my C3 probably 235/40 & 265/40 next time and 225/400 & 265/35 on 8" & 10" x18 on the 993 w/ a possible switch to 235/40 front. I can't imagine roads out west being worse than back here where winter weather tears he** out of them.
