Need Help With A Non-Stocked Part

Hey Friends,
(Sounds like I need something, eh)
I was poking around in the front of the cab and cleaning carpet pieces the other day. I pulled the "Cover" off the front lid release lever "Housing" and noticed that the top screw was loose because the brass insert was missing. (See photo below)
I don't want to shell out $72.25 to our sponsor for the whole "Housing" when all I need is one of these small bushings. I could make one if I could get the remaining one out, but it seems to be very happy right where it is.

If someone has an extra one of these "Housings" (964-538-101-000-1C superceeded to 993-538-101-000-1C) and could spare one of the little brass bushings, please PM me at dad10@comcast.net

Thanks,
Mark

The purists will cringe, but since the hole will be covered you could just get a small wallboard molly and push it in there then put the cover one and screw it in.

Need Help...

Craig,
Thanks for the suggestion but the depth of the hole and the associated expanding screw collar is less than 1/4". I can't get a molly to hold it when it is that shallow.

C'mon guys. I bet at least three members of this forum have a 964/993 trunk lid release-lever cover sitting on a shelf and they are wondering why they keep it. This is the reason.

Heck, send me the cover and let me measure the missing brass insert. I will mail it back to you with a token of my appreciation and then I will make an insert myself. I just don't know how to remove the lever assembly or push out the brass insert while the lever assembly is in place (it might have a flange on the back or a retaining ridge?)

PM me here: dad10@comcast.net

Thanks,
Mark

PM me, I can send you one to measure...or I can sell you the entire housing if you need it.
