964 shift problem

At the trackday today our 92 964 developed a shifting problem. Approaching a turn I tried to shift down from 5th, but the gear shift seemed stuck. I continued braking and half way around the turn I pulled harder and managed to get out of 5th. For the rest of the lap the gear shift seemed really stiff.

When I got back to the pits and played around with the car here is what I found:

The transmission still shifted smoothly and easily into and out of 1st, 3rd and 5th.

Shifting into or out of 2nd or 4th felt like pulling the shift lever through wet cement from the center point all the way back.

It did this whether the car was moving, sitting still, running or off.

It still seemed to shift into all gears (but with more effort through 2nd and 4th) without any strange sounds.

10 minutes into my first session of the afternoon the problem completely disappeared and the car shifted smoothly and easily into all gears.

2 laps later the problem returned exactly as before with stiffness through 2nd and 4th gears. By the end of the day it had gotten a little smoother through 2nd and 4th, but not much.

The clutch and dual mass flywheel were replaced at 49K miles (the car has 76K now).
The clutch fluid was last flushed at 57K miles.
Transmission oil was replaced at 57K with Swepco 80/90 GL5 ?
I had breakfast at Jack in the Box on the way to the track (may not be relevant).

People at the track suggested maybe it was a bushing problem or linkage alignment issue, but nobody was really familiar with G50 transmissions. Has anyone seen something like this with a G50 transmission?

The car will go to the shop on Monday, but the suspense of not knowing what they will find is killing me. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jamil
