About to replace dual distributor belt

Anyone can inform me how to set engine to Z1 #1 TDC without pushing the car or turning the wheel while car is on a lift?

What size offset box wrench will turn the flywheel pulley bolt?

Am about to pull the distributor out for replacement of the rubber belt.

Remove the caps and check where the rotor timing marks are.
Remove vehicle from lift and push vehicle in gear until they line up.
Place car in neutral and check the crank marks agaiin.
Remove distributor. Mark everything before removal of anything!!!!

Or:

Turn engine over on alternator pulley nut, you may have tension belt with your other hand so it will rotate engine.

Yup, that's what I did. You need a 24mm wrench. Remember, there are two places where the marks align, you should confirm tdc by seeing that the disty rotor is pointing at the mark on the distributor case.

I highly recommend you disconnect the neg battery cable and put a big note on the engine and on the dash to remind yourself not to disturb the engine position. I also put white marks on the pulley in a couple of different locations just in case.

I have been doing this for a while until somebody suggested to use a remote starter switch. After getting hold of a remote starter switch for $15 from the auto parts store, I just found it very safe and convenient especially when finding TDC and adjusting valves.

lots of good advice here. I'd recommend Adrians book also, it shows the process very clearly.
