Programming Key Fob
I need to program a new key fob for my 993. The dealer wants $75 to program this and says they need 1/2 hour.
Do any of you know if I can do this myself? I did find an article on our host's site but it said I need a code. I bought the fob on e-Bay and it didn't come with a code. Thanks, James |

My dealer would not give me the code, so I had to pay. Its seems though, it is quite a procedure to input the code. Many steps of getting in and out of the car and pressing buttons.

James,
Have a look at this document: http://www.pcarworkshop.com/index.php/993_-_Programming_the_remote If you ask a Porsche Center the code providing them an owner proof and the car's VIN, I believe you will get the code for free. It's a one minute task for them to query their database using your car's VIN. I got it for free. |

It is a pain in the butt to get it right. I had to try about 10 times before I figured out the correct timing on everything. But, it is doable. You need the security code for your car. The dealer should give it to you with proof of ownership of the car. ie. you will have to drive there with your registration papers and a valid ID and talk to the service manager. While you are at it, you should ask for your radio code if you have the stock radio.
