Am buying Recaro Pole Position seats for my 93 C-2 and trying to determine if I need both the side mount bracket as well as the sliding bracket? Getting various opinions from the seat distributors. Thanks

I'm currently going through this w/ my car, it's amazing how complicated such a simple task is.
Here is how the factory did it on 964Cup and 993RS/CS ![]() I'm copying the factory setup except using Recaro flat sliders instead of the 928 manual sliders used by factory using BK side mounts instead of the factory sidemounts using the factory tunnel side seatbelt mount, #22 w/ spacer washer's #18, yoou could also use the BK R-9005 for this but then you will need to fab spacers for the door side and front of the tunnel side to level the side mounts up. probably eye bolts w/ backing plates for the subs and harness tunnel side on the door side both the factroy belt and harness use the stock belt hard point using BK or Rennline eye under the stock belt mount. you don't need sliders as long as you know exactly where the seat needs to be and never plan on needing it any where else(IMO this is unlikely to be a good plan)

Been through this a couple of times now. I followed the outline described above, except I used the Speedware side mounts.

I just installed Pole Positions in my 964. Used Speedware Motorsport aluminum side mounts and Recaro sliders.

What is the advantage of the Speedware side mounts over the Recaro side mounts?

Kris, one was price point and the other was that Speedwares mounts lowered the seat more providing additional head room.

I also like the looks of the Speedware mounts better than Recaro.
FYI: I have also seen people use stock sliders and Sparco sliders. I've also seen one drivers and one passenger locking slider used for double locking sliders.

I did it without sliders to get additional headroom for a sunroof car. Helped a bunch but it only fits me.

I had a chance to compare sliders before purchasing, the Recaros are ~1/8 lower than the Sparcos, both will need to be drilled for use in a 964/993
Same with the side mounts, the BK are ~1/4" lower than the Recaros

The pieces are dribbling in

Well, now that I have power again(6 days out because of an ice storm) some more progress on the seat install
![]() ![]() Finding hardware is proving to be another chore, all the bolts are M8 1.25 but finding g12.9 isn't easy. 10.9 seems to be available. We'll see.

Another piece of the puzzle, Rennline harness mounts for both the door and tunnel sides. A very impressive product and they supply all the hardware(this may seem like a minor deal but it's not) Kudus!!

Nice looking.
Since I don't have street belts (a pita for the drive to/from the track), I used standard sparco sliders and mounts and it was a 15 minute operation to install in the car.

I have had some advantages of excellent advice and lots of differnt parts to try. The Sparco sliders were the first ones that I tried, the Recaro sliders are a much better choice. I see little difference between the BK sidemounts and Recaro sidemonts. I'll probably also install some Shroth eye bolts to the tunnel for track days(along w/ the dual mounts pictured above), I've been told that even the RS tunnel side mount I'm using isn't the best for track use.

Maybe the seats or side mounts you used are the difference(Sparco right?) After seeing some massively distorted 993 seat mounts after a heavy crash I am overdoing everything, M8 for all bolts(BK only provides M6) and dual bolts fore and aft on the sliders and sidemounts.

The factory used 928 manual seat sliders, price new is prohibitive and used they are not readily available. A friend used 944 manual sliders, they also needed a lot of drilling. note that part of my issue is the requirement to use double bolts fore and aft on the slders to chassis connection and single bolt fore/double bolt aft on the side to slider connection

If any of you need a set of the Brey Krause tunnel side seat belt mounts I have a like-new pair that I am not using that I will sell for $100. I had them in my former 964 and only used them for a month. Like this:
