Wheel Fitment

Would the wheels listed below fit my 1990 C4? Would I need spacers in the front?
Porsche O.E. 996 "Twist" wheels
Front wheel part number is 996.362.124.00, 7"x17" ET55 with 205/50ZR17
Rear wheel part number is 996.362.128.00, 9"x17" ET55, one has a 255/40ZR17

Thanks

The wheels are a stock size and o/s for your car and so will fit fine

17" wheels for 89-91 964 need wider steering stops

Adrian Streather says in his "Porsche 911 Enthusiast's Companion" (a must-have for 964 owners, imo) that only 16" wheels were originally fitted on non-turbo 89-91 964's. 17" rears are fine, but using 17" fronts will almost certainly allow the inner edge of the tire to contact the inside of the wheel well at full lock. They do on mine, anyway. To avoid this, starting in the 1992 model year the factory started installing 10mm steering stops in place of the 6mm ones used previously. You can do the same update ($$) or use up to 5mm spacers (thinner ones might work, but ymmv). Problem with spacers, of course, is that they increase unsprung weight.

I saw a forum thread somewhere that described the entire steering stop replacement process, but I don't have a pointer handy.

Of course, you could just avoid full lock.

Has anyone fit 18" 996 OE twists on a 89-91 C2, or is this not worth the effort?
