Another Brakes Questions

OK, hopefully the last one. I noticed that my rear pads are worn much more the my front pads. Basic physics would suggest that the front pads are worn faster then the rear ones, so where is the problem? Brake pressure regulator?

This is a 964 with the old 2-piston rear caliper instead of the "newer" 4-piston caliper in the back.

Btw, and this is probably a dumb question, but where is the pressure regulator in the car? In the older -'89 cars it was in the luggage compartment under a cover close the the main master brake cylinder.

Thanks

964 w/ 2 piston rears is much less front biased than is usual in the 911/964/993 world. If most braking is on the lighter side, which it almost always is, then one would expect increased rear wear.

To be sure inspect the fronts for proper operation

the usual suspects are
frozen pistons
internal swelling in the rubber lines
mung behind the ss positioning plates impedeing the free movement of the pads.

Thank you Bill. I was hoping you would read this question

I had one frozen piston on my left front caliper so I am rebuilding that one. The right front caliper looks good - visual inspection only so far. The plates look good too - no visible corrosion, deformation, etc. but a lot of brake dust build-up in the caliper. Could that be contributing? Looks like the last owner did not do a good job cleaning the calipers during a pad change - a guess based on some other stuff I found.

I am changing front rubber brake lines.

Thanks again for the help.
