My 89 C4 brakes.

So my 89 C4 has had some brake issues for the last 3 months. Dou to a huge number of factors, I've not been able to fix it.

Here is what I know:

Put on new ties and it drove for about 4 miles. I head something like I drove over a chunk of ice when coming home from the store. I drove it another 5 miles home, and as I started to get close the pedal faded completely. I could stop, but it required the leg of hercules.

The pump runs when I put the key in the ignition. No fluid leaks I have seen.

What else should I look for? The pump isn't as hard as it was, but still a bit tougher, and I checked the relays, both tested okay. Could it be the pads and sensors?

Both pads are still in, rotors not cracked?

If you are sure you don't have leak anywhere, i.e. master brake cylinder, any of the four calipers, and your brake pads are still in place, the next place to look would be the master brake cylinder. The seals inside do go bad and can have the effect you are describing. Since this is a C4 with the very high pressure hydraulic system, you may need some "professional help".

Good luck

The high pressure system has servos and pressure accumulators with membranes that fail and flood the entire vessel with fluid. This would cause hard and ineffective braking.

I have checked it over again, and it doesn't appear to have lost any fluid. Pads are in the car. Sensor wires are attached.

I guess I'm going to look at repair shops. Anyone have a good one they recommend here in SLC? I know of Airpowered.
