need help - 964 big brake install

I am doing a big brake upgrade on a 90 C2. I read somewhere (on this forum I think) that I should up grade to the 993 master cylinder so I went out and bought one without doing any other homework . the 993 master does not appear to have any chance of working with the 964 Vaccum booster. for starter there is the obvious differnce in the design but not as obvious the seal diameter is smaller than the opening to the booster - I could use some help from someone who has BTDT.
Also I purchased the larger resevoir in the picture. how difficult is it to remove the securing piece across the bottom of the resevoir - any chance of damaging the resevoir ?

TIA
regards
