I will let you know how it goes and if I run into any problems with the install. Thanks.

exact same thing happened to my 91 964. The pillar is brOKen (driver side) and the same piece you have pictured is bent and twisted. My situation happened because one of the motors did not work and I kept trying to bring it down. If I would have know I would just removed the screws and do it manually. But hey you live and learn.I also found the parts at germanautodismantler but still thinking if I really need it right now. I was able to put the top back up and the set the pillar straight. Of course with the help of my mechanic and some friends. The convertible top is latched in placed and according to my mechanic is should be OK as long at the top is latched. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Finally got back from Iraq...guess what the first thing I did was...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...c/DSC_0013.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...c/DSC_0014.jpg It was a pretty easy job, took about 2 hours of labor...not counting the refreshment breaks...but got it all back together. |
I guess that's why I never use my motors, have to put the cover & screen on anyway. I've read too many of the self destruct posts. After changing the top myself too chicken to engage the motors for retract. Had it 3.5 years, wish I had stuck to finding a coupe.
