ASAP Help On 964w/ 928gts calipers + rotors + pagid blacks. Going 2 the track friday

So here is my dilemma

I have a 1990 964 Carrera 2 with upgraded brakes (amongst other details)

On impulse I went and Purchased a Brand new 993TT Rotors
Then a few Days Later I happen to find a set of Brand new 993TT Brembo Aftermarket Rotors with Aluminum Hats ( set up weighs 2 pounds lighter and just a little bit taller than oem) @ LA Dismantlers warehouse.

Now I hear that my rotors might not even be 993TT! to start off with !
I may be stuck with 2 sets of 993tt Rotor!

Oh and I'm heading out to Willow Springs on Friday and I still need to break in the Pagid Blacks ! DO THESE PADS SQUEAK IN THE STREET ????

Brake Set up:

928 GTS Front Calipers Big Blacks with adapter kit (S-4 Red to 944t/C2/C4)
( I hear/read that these are virtually the same as 993TT calipers)

With what I presume are 993TT Rotors

part numbers:
993.351.045.10 (Or so the receipt claims)
993.351.046.10

I have not removed the wheel to see if They are in fact 993TT or something else.
What do I look out for ? since rotors have no part numbers on them.

I plan to do the complete brake job tomorrow on the lift...!!!

I'm stuck here.

Sounds to me that taking the wheels off and looking at what you have on there and then comparing it to your replacment parts would be a good start!

Yes, race pads tend to squeak, even if everything is a fit.
I can take measurements on my 993 TT rotors front or back if that helps.

So here is what I tried

The After market 993tt or 996TT rotors do not fit (too tall)
( I would have to get some spacers made (no big deal)

965 Turbo Rotors had the wrong off set (same size as what I now have)
so they did not fit.

My current rotors are exactly like the 965 3.3 Turbo rotors, only the off set is not the same !!

I Have no idea what rotors these could be....???

928 ? 968 ? 944t ? or 965 3.6 T ????

if they are 928GTS calipers using the large 132x58mm pads then there are only a few choices for the rotors. All are 322x32mm. The 996tt 330x34 will not work for sure.

which rotor to use depends on what caliper adapter and upright you are using.

choice 1 is the 322x32mm 2 piece 993tt rotor
choice 2 is the 322x32mm 1 piece 964 RS/t rotor

the difference between the rotors besides 1 vs 2 piece design is o/s

Hello

Thank you very much for the help

I didn't try 2 piece 993TT rotors
but I do have Factory OEM brand new 993tt Rotors in there box that I didn't open or try.

I suspect that the Performance rotors I have are for 996TT (they originally came from True Speed before LAPD got them) They warned me not to get them but I was stubborn lol.

I tried 1 piece 965/964 Turbo Rotors but like I said the offset wasn't right
The sizes look exactly the same otherwise.

not sure if RS 964 will work... (don't have the fronts)

let me know
ahhhhhhhh

Where are you located?

I have some 993 TT rotors that you are welcome to borrow and try on.

George

edit: sounds like you have 993 TT rotors already - go open the box.

WOW thank you!!!

The problem isn't the rotors

I have used and new 993TT rotors

I just ran out of time during my lunch time when I was trying different rotors on the lift.

I h ave to wait till 6pm when im out of work to try it again on the lift...break in the new rotors and new pads in time for tomorrow at willow springs!!!

The BIG problem will be if the 993TT rotors I have don't work!!! then im Screwed since I don't have any other rotors other than 911's
(no front engine mounted Porsche basically)

there are only 2 possibilites
1) 993tt
2) 964t which is the same as 964RS

if the o/s is wrong for the 964t rotors then you need to use the 993tt rotors

ilko provided this pic showing the o/s difference between the 2, 964t/Rs on left 993tt on right
