964 head light and fog light problems

Have 1990 964, fog lamps went out same time the high beams stuck on any ideas?

Ooh, sorry to hear that. My alternator went (and I hear they short when they go) -- and took all kinds of crap with it. If you have the same problem I did, you've got a short somewhere in the electrical system.

I assume you've checked the appropriate fuses? I ended up replacing the same fuse multiple times because it kept burning out. These sorts of problems are beyond me, so I took the car to the shop

Anyway, check the fuses. If you've got a bad one, replace it and pray it holds!

The fog lamps are designed to shut off when the high beams are on. It sounds like your high/low beam switch or relay quit.

This is a common problem with headlights that have been "upgraded" with higher wattage bulbs than the originals. The metal contacts in the switches (in the steering stalk assembly) will literally melt due to the higher current.
