Koni shocks for 993

I am trying to create the most compliant street ride in my 98 993. It will not see any track time. I'm looking for comfort. It has the standard suspension now with Boge shocks and 23,xxx miles on it. I've been advised that Bilsteins are harsh. Has anyone tried adjustable Konis? Thanks E J

I do not believe you can get 993 fitment with Koni.

If you want compliant, get OE Monroes I guess.

To be clear, shocks don't create a compliant ride - springs do. Shocks dampen the action of the springs to keep you from bouncing.

But if the damping ratio is too stiff, dampers cause a harsh ride by not allowing the springs to compress fast enough or rebound fast enough.

The 993 Konis just came out, I have a set being installed on my 96 C4 as we speak. I will post a full report once the alignment is done and they clean all the sand/salt off the roads around here.

Here are the part numbers from my Paragon invoice;
KONI-8241-1273LSPORTShock - Koni Sport, Left Rear

KONI-8241-1273RSPORTShock - Koni Sport, Right Rear

KONI-8741-1542LSportStrut - Koni Sport, Left Front

KONI-8741-1542RSportStrut - Koni Sport, Right Front

Yes you can, and they work great.

I disagree with the notion that shocks don't create a harsh ride. You have to have a relatively matched set and if your compression damping is too high, I think that is one of the biggest contributors to a harsh ride. IMHO.

My 968 with Koni Sports rides like a Caddy and is much more planted feeling than my 993.

Caveat: I do not like the non-adjustable ride height if the Konis.

I stand corrected. I remember trying to get them a few years ago and was told there was an issue with Porsche that stopped Koni from making them. Sounds like this has been resolved.

Yes, you are correct - my point (poorly made) is that shocks/springs are a system, and simply replacing shocks may not provide the desired result.
