Blown Six Design Cup Wheels

Im new to the BBS and have been looking for a set of 18 wheels for my 1995 993. I like the look of the Speedline for Porsche wheels that came on the 964 turbo but have been unable to find any new ones in the correct size and off set for my NB coupe. I recently came across Blown 6 Design in Toronto Canada who offer a copy of this wheel at a relatively attractive price. Does anyone have any experience with this firm (good or bad)? Anyone have or know of anyone who has a set of thier wheels?

The 3.6 Turbo Speedline wheel will fit your 993. The wheels are 52 ET 8" and 61 ET 10", The Speedline Alesio wheel which is another great wheel for your car is 45 ET 8" and 56 ET 10" and they fit just fine, and most sought after and correct wheel is the Speedline 993 RS wheels and they are 52 ET 8" fronts and 65 ET 10" for the rears. The wide body 993's TT, C2S C4S can run 11" on the rears. I restore and sell Speedline, RH and OZ Racing wheels. I have a couple of sets currently available, send me an email and your address and I can discuss further with you and provide pictures. Jim

What offsets are the stock wheels on your NB car? The 3.6 Turbo Speedlines are as Jim has listed in his post, above. I think they're the sexiest wheels to grace a 911, ever. Slightly heavy, though. If you have trouble getting a set through Jim, there are a couple other sources for new 3.6 Turbo Speedlines.

I'm passingly curious about the B6 wheels, too. They make a 3-piece Fuchs replica, too. I have yet to hear of anyone purchasing a set. Based upon their history in making intercoolers, I'd wait for proof of their product before sending them any of my money.

Thanks guys,

Jim, I'll send you an email later tonight (can't access my email from this computer) to find out what you have and prices etc.

Noah, my current cup wheels are 7 et55 and 9 et55 x17's. I've heard that the speedlines are a bit heavy and new ones are expensive which is why I have been looking at alternatives. B6 claims thier 18s are approx 22lbs each which is light compared to what I hear the speedlines weight. I've looked at the RH wheels but they are not cheep if new and I haven't been able to get weights for them. Buying used also has some risks especially on the net as you dont really know what you are getting until they arrive. (No offence intended to anyone selling this way, I know there are lots of legit dealers that buy and sell on line).

If anyone else has any info on options, sizes, weights etc that would be great.

Thanks,

993 n/b wants 18x8ET52 & 10ET65

Speedlines are great street wheels but are a little on the heavy side

a great alternative is the BBS 5 spokes used on My02 996 which are 8x18ET50 & 10ET65

the B6s just don't look right to me

if you want wider wheels 8.5ET56 & 10.5ET69+/- 1

Thanks Bill,

just had a look at your wheel page and noticed the speedlines with Pirelli's are 9and 12 lbs heavier (front and rear respectively) than the MY02's with MPSC's. Do you know if this is all wheels or are the Pirelli's heaver than the MPSC's?

I am planning on changing the suspension to get a lower stance for looks and some improved stability for the occasional Auto X but want to be able to maintain factory comfort on the street. Was thinking of the PSS10 set up which I think will give me the best of both worlds. But know that wheel weight makes a big difference in how a shock/spring set up works. You run Speedlines on the street but MY02 on the track do you notice a big difference in how the car behaves between the two wheels? Do the heaver wheels change ride harshness at all?

I ran modified VW's and Audi's for years and loved they way the responded with stiffer springs and shocks (non adjustable) but hated the harshness on the road so want to avoid that. Do you think the PSS10 and 18 inch wheels will allow me to get close to factory comfort when dialed down or should I stick with the the euro factory set up?

bare Speedline(well w/ steel valve stems) 8 &10 x18 weigh 25 & 26.5 #s
bare MY02 996 5 spokes for the same sizes weigh 20.5 & 22.7 #s

the Pirellis are some of the heaviest I've ever seen in those sizes and the MPSC are the lightest

there is a difference in the acceleration of the car, but not in ride harshness

There's no doubt that the ability to dial down the shocks for street use makes incredibly stiff track setups very streetable. Don't know if they will approach stock, but maybe. The biggest difference I notice between the car now and when it was more or less stock is the lack of unwanted chassis motion, but the roads around here are generally very good.

Hi Mark,

Will likely keep the 17's as backup/spares. But will let you know first if I decide to get rid of them

Bill,

Thanks for all the info, I plan on pulling one of the stock 17" wheels off to weigh it soon an see where it compares to the 18's. Acceleration is a good point, I was so concerned about ride that I forgot about rotational mass and enertia. will let you know how it turns out once I make some final decissions.

Thanks again,
Tim

If you might consider "piecing" together a set of Speedlines, I have one 8x18 available. It has some repairable damage to the rear lip, but I would be willing to let it go cheap. If you have patience, you can buy singles and put together a complete set for good price in the end! I did that when I was looking for a set of certain wheels for my 944 years ago. The key is "patience" though!
