Question Tiptronic Question - Acceleration Hesitation

OK, this is my first tiptronic so I have no comparison. When I floor it out of a standing start, I feel a hesitation for a second or so - almost the car is thinking if it should really do this... I know the 0 - 60 acceleration is about 1.5 sec longer in a tip than a manual but is this hesitation normal? Thanks.

Under normal accel, the Tip is programmed to start out in 2nd gear. If you floor it for a quick getaway, there is a minor hesitation as the Tip downshifts to 1st.

You can do 2 things to have it start out in 1st:
...put it in "manual" and make sure that you drop it into 1st prior to accelerating
...select "3", instead of "D", this will have the Tip starting out in 1st.
