strong 3.3l 965 engine; should I part or sell whole?

I just purchased a T3.6 engine for my 3.3 965.

My current 3.3 runs very strong: 387rwhp/425rwtq @ 1.2bar, 365/365 @ 1.0 bar. It runs beautifuly, does not (ever) smoke on startup, boost, decel, & uses an immeasureable amount of oil between changes (15/50 Mobil 1). Regular valve adjustments, never been apart: only out of the car once for a clutch.

Current mileage (245k) + oil leaks around the chain housings have motivated me to rebuild/replace this engine...I ended up replacing it with a '94 T3.6.

So, I'll have this complete longblock for sale that I plan on performing a leakdown & compression check on: so is it worth more as it is or in pieces?

Thanks, Mark

Save it for the future when somebody has to have a numbers matching 965

that many miles on a T engine without ever going into it is unheard of!!

ive bought 2 of these engines before to put into project cars and right now they are running about $8-9K with @80-100K miles, so yours would be worth less you would think. I would rather see it go complete, but im not sure what you could part it out for or how long that would take.

in '95 there was a 930 on the track in Corpus Christi that had either 230k or 320k on a never-been-apart engine: had a micro-fueler & a few other mods.

I'm thinking the engine is probably worth 4.5-5k.

Long block or complete w intake, exhaust, electronics and all for an install?

MarkRobinson 08-10-2010 06:11 AM

Longblock only: I purchased a 3.6 longblock so i'll reuse all my intake/exhaust/turbo, etc.

Price was lowered to $4k.

Mark

Bump; $4k price adjustment.
