Another 993 starting problem
Just had driven my '98 993 yesterday. Today, after getting in and the normal double click on the factory key fob to deactivate the immobolizer..... nothing. The engine won't turn over. All the normal lights come on and everything appears fine. Just won't turn over at all. I tried disconnecting the battery to reset things. Still nothing. I have read what I can find on Pelican but most other's starting issues have the engine turning over without starting. Any ideas on this before I have it hauled to the dealer?
Thanks! Scott Crosby |

Have you checked the starter?

Were the doors locked? and did hitting the key fob unlock the doors? Are the alarm LEDs blinking, or can you tell if the alarm has been disarmed? The immobilizer sends a signal to the alarm/lock module which in turn, unlocks the doors and disarms the alarm which send power to pin 27 on the ECU which it must see to let the car start.

+1...Sounds like the alarm/security system. Have you gone through the complete arm/disarm procedure for the security system (Doors closed/Remove key from ignition/Lock doors/Unlock doors/Insert key in ignition/Attempt to start)? If not, do that first. You may find that "resetting" all the security system parameters is all that is needed. |
