Tires for 8.5"/10"?

Hi all,

I bought new 18" rims to my 993 NB and I'm about to order new tires for them. They are 18" LM's, 8.5" (ET56) front and 10" (ET65) rear. I'm thinking on going with 235/40 and 265/35 and I'd like to hear some opinions about my choice please.

From what I've read they should fit without scraping even though the car rides pretty low (H&R adjustable)? I'm planning to get Falken FK452's which are on the narrow side I think.

The fronts are bit wider relative to the rears compared to the previous OEM 17" 205/255 set. Will there be any noticeable balance change?

If you heart is set on the Falkens then that's probably a pretty good choice, unfortunately Falkens are amoung the tire lines that don't offer anything much better.

For street use on those wheels I'd use Continental EC/DW 245/35 & 280/30 x18

I go through Discount Tire Direct for my tires. Just had 4 Continental Extreme Contacts delivered for $710, then local DT mounted them for $80. VERY grippy. 18" Turbo Twists, offsets are both in the 50s, think they came off of a Boxster awhile back. I use a 4mm spacer for the fronts, probably not necessary but I only had a few mm clearance on the front calipers. Stuck with the 225/40-265/35 option.

Thanks for the comments! I know what you mean about Falkens vs premiums Bill, but that's what I have to go with this time.

i ran with falkens (17") on my widebody 964, & before that on my 04 highly mod'd
cobra.....they were just fine. a performance tire co. that does not pay big bucks for advertising like michelin, conti, & the rest. you'll find falkens give very decent grip - all weather, & good wearability, plus of course super price point.
