idle transistion hesitation when cold

hi - like the tile says this is the only way i can describe this - when cold and ideling if i press the throttle the car will give a very big hesitation as the revs climb - if i do it real slow its ok - but blip the throttle and its very annoying - hard to drive unless its warmed up properly - dunno if im descibing this well but its like a hiccup as it revs thru approx 1500-2000rpm ......

any ideas its driving me crazy !

car is a 1991 964 T

cheers

J
