1996 993 replacement key reprogramming issue

i have a 1996 993 C2 cab. the original switchblade key had started to fail in unlocking/locking the doors and alarm and disarming the immobilizer when starting the car. so i've gone to the dealer to get a replacement key but they can't seem to reprogram the immobilizer with the new key. we've tried installing a new controller board but it still won't accept the code. any assistance would be appreciated.

thanks

I don't understand what you are saying. Did you just get a new key, or did you get a new remote? If you just got a key, there is no need to reprogram. A lot of times when the remote doesn't work, you just need to change out the battery in the remote.

Reprogramming the remote can be a PITA!

don't know if it is a bad immobilizer. i have an old switchblade style key. dealer was going to replace with a new key and remote. they cut the key but couldn't get remote working since immobilizer was not accepting the programming codes.
