As a 964 wheel shopper, I have not found any single repository of accurate information to help figure out what wheels and tires will and will not fit my car. Other than pestering the local oracles (thanks for your multitude of informative posts on a variety of topics over the years, Mr. Verburg and others), is there a good source where one can figure it out for himself?

I have run several different sized wheels on my stock 964 C4 and in my opinion the car seems to handle best on 16" and 17" wheels. From my experience, 8"-9" width wheels with offsets from 45mm to 60mm will fit in the front, and that the rear offset has to be 58mm or lower for 9" and 10" wheels.
I'm guessing you have already seen this, but here is a pretty good overview on 964 wheel fitment. http://www.porsche964.co.uk/technical/964%20wheels%20and%20tyres.pdf |

We run 7 & 9x17 Cup IIs without drama on our '91. 235 & 255 tyres fit just fine. 275s on the back are to big unless you run ~10mm spacers. These require longer studs too. Car is ~RS ride height (w/RS struts and springs).
