New here and have a few questions
I just picked up a 1991 C2 with 92k on the clock. It's pretty clean but has a few issues that I need to sort out. I've already ordered the console cubbyhole to replace the silly cassette holder that kept popping open every time I bumped it with my elbow. It seems a little strange that a car that came with a CD player would even have a cassette holder. I need to know the part number for the light bulb that goes in the engine compartment light. I can't seem to find it in any book. I also need to know how to operate the climate control. It seems to me that its a little haywire but I'm not sure because I have nothing to compare it to. When I turn the temp knob to full hot, the fan kicks on to high. Is that normal? I'm looking forward to learning and working on my new to me car. I've always wanted a 911 and I'm stoked!

Merle, the climate control issue is normal, it's sets it's self automatic, that's why when you put it on hot , it's starts blowing fast to get the cab warm, as for the engine light bulb, I bought mine at pep boys, SYLVANIA DE3423, I will suggest you get the 964 book by Adrian streather, lots of helpful info, good luck with the new ride

Welcome to Pelican Parts. Post a pic of your 964 when you get a chance.
Just a quick suggestion on the dead battery every few days - 1. Take the battery to a local auto parts store and have them load test the battery. I was chasing a similar issue and turns out my battery went bad. No issues now with a new battery. 2. If you have a multi-meter I would verify you have a minimum of 13.8 volts at the battery when the car is running to rule out alternator issues. After the two suggestions then you can start to the process of checking for electrical drains. Not sure where you are located but here is a link to the official US Porsche 964 parts catalog. http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/usa/964_USA_KATALOG.pdf

My dead after a few days issue was caused by the engine compartment and trunk light staying on and the door switches not functioning properly and allowing current to flow to the window switches, after a thorough clean and replacement of the rubber cover on all everything was ok
For some reason the trunk and engine compartment light share a circuit...one affected the other.. |
