Help Please - Center Console Dismantle

I need to dismantle the center console to re-carpet and to fix a contact problem but can't get past this one:


How do I get the shift knob off or the black plate? I don't see it....

Pop the cap off and twist (hard) to the right?? My 2 cents....

The large black button on the top of the shifter screws off. Grip it best you can and unscrew. Once it's off the lever pulls off - will take quite a tug...
