Cracks in spoiler

I think I've read that this isn't an uncommon problem- I've got some cracks in the plastic on my spoiler- pretty symertical- I've got one on each side.

Curious about the best way to deal with this. Find a replacement and have painted to match? Pull spoiler and see if it's possible to glue the cracks back together? Bondo, sand, paint? Cover the entire plastic trim in carbon fiber (obviously leaving the grill exposed)?

Am I correct that the plastic is not removable from the rest of the spoiler?

Many thanks,
-gardoni

I have the same problem

Did you manage to separate the grille and surround for repair
How did you do it?

The following pics were what I have done with my cracked spoiler.
Use fiberglass to repair the crack and repaint it.
It was a very straight forward job.

Actually a common problem.

Who knows what causes it? Otherwise you fix it and it comes back.

There was a discussion about this on Rennlist 964 subforum recently. It is a VERY common problem. There were a couple of theories discussed.

Some said it might be caused by running a torn spoiler wall which causes the wing to move around at speed, others said it might be caused by the mechanism being out of adjustment and putting uneven pressure on the wing when in the retracted position.

Mine is cracked exactly like Superkrill's, except on the opposite side of the wing.

For the record, same issue with our '91 on same side as Vandit.

Is this a problem with the other cars, 993, 996, 997, with operable spoilers too? Maybe it's a question for the PCA tech guys.
