964 Distributor: removal

Hi all-
Have owned my 1992 C2 Tip for 13 years.
In the midst of first DYI top end rebuild and I am down to the long block. Nothing unusual in any of the disassembly thus far. Pelican forums, Wayne's books & others, PET catalog, WSM all extremely helpful.
Right now, the distributor won't 'release' to come out. (Yes, I have removed the securing nut.) I get the impression from reading other 964 rebuilds it should come out pretty straight forward. I have the pulley at Z1 (not in this pic), pulled gently, moved the crank just a pinch and tried again.
I am missing anything? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Mine was really stuck, took a huge amount of force and all that was holding it was the O-ring.

I used a pry bar and levered gently under the shoulder of the dist and against the closest boss on the fan support for the fan strap. I put some penetrant around the base of the dist and levered many times so the penetrant would work it's way around the o-ring.

Thanks, Jim. Will see if I can coax it out with some penetrant and a little more leverage.

I used a slid hammer that I made for another purpose ages ago and some stainless steel aircraft cable with vinyl tubing slid over it to protect the finish of my distributor.

It came out effortlessly.

Leave the nut on a couple of turns so that the distributor does not come flying out.

Some leverage with a piece of hardwood should work - within reason of course. The o-ring gets hard and dry. If it moves up at all, work it back and forth until it comes out.

Thx for the tips. Was able to gently coax it out with some leverage against the fan boss. Onwards.
