97 993S Digital speedo display randomly scatters

The digital display of my speedometer on my C2S 993 infrequently goes 'haywire' as it scatters the digits - this is for the speed fucntion or any function (climate, fuel distance etc). After scattering the digits it can freeze but then come good. Anyone had a similar issue and knows the cause/fix?

Try posting on the 993 Turbo board on rennlist.
more people there will have experience with the OBD.

good luck.

Any gauge, digital or analog can go bad. Perhaps a search on "speedometer or gauge repair" would yield something of some use.
The search function can be your friend; both within a Porsche forum or via google.
"1997 Porsche speedometer repair" might be a good starting point.
I'm jus sayin...

Thanks a few on other forums suggested a tap/slap too the glass. I am finding a tap on the glass gets it back to normal again. But will need to explore the other ideas as longer term solutions.
