Did you happen to pony up for the ceramic coating? As hot as things get under the 993's, its a good idea to lose the cover under the motor, and I thought an extra step might be to pony up for the ceramic coating to contain the heat withing the exhaust system as opposed to letting it radiate under the motor.
Just curious, as I see FD offers the ceramic coating to the Fister kits...

Yes I did. I got the satin black on the tips and mufflers. A buddy of mine has the same setup on his 993. I am looking forward to putting on my new addition.

I've had the Fister Stage 2's for a little over a year now, very happy with the sound vs. stock. It's just enough.

Thinking about doing the goldenrod and possibly the SSK, I've read where the SSK puts the shift lever knob about an inch higher, not sure I'd like that though.

yes i saw the golden rod and ssk at the festival of speed. it seems like it would be taller. which i wont like either. but the golden rod is something i am leaning towards.

I'm have been running Stage II's for ~ 2 years and love the tone ... just right for my neighborhood :-). I went with the SSK and Golden Rod this last fall.

I don't even notice the extra height anymore. I have seen an installation where the shifter was cut down ~ 1 inch and modified to accept different style knobs ... nice, but I am happy with mine.

RE: SSK + Golden Rod

The SSK is the RS Lever which does raise it, but also adjusts the length of the ball at the base of the shifter.. which turns into shorter throws. You could cut some of the top off to lower the shifter. End result is shorter throws (good thing, just keep it slow until the transmission warms up).. a little taller, but I don't think its bad at all (maybe an inch?) start with that and then cut it down if you really want.

Golden rod - this replaces the rubber between the shift assembly and transmission with a universal joint.. it will get rid of the sloppy feeling.

SSK+GR= tight and fast shifting! IF you are running on stock you should do\try this combo. I recommend the combo on every 993 to modernize the shifting.

Here is a rough picture of the shifter and interior GR + SSK ... +1 to Philbur's explanation. In my case I was going to have to do something to fix the forward rod cups ... installing this combo is a very nice improvement.

Like I said before you get used to the height ...

I thought I would hate it but its easy to get use to and a small prices to pay for a great shifter.

I'm guessing you could cut the 1" off simply with a grinder / cut-off wheel. Would that affect the ability to reuse the stock knob?
