964 Power Steering noise. My 964 had some oil leaks; I took advantage of the winter months to fix them.
I carefully follow step by step the recommendations of Oleg Perelet, to end all leaks, ![]() Any advice or recommendation will be welcome. Spring starts and topless driving is needed. Thanks Francisco |

After rebuilding my engine and refilling the power steering fluid I had the same noise in the back right hand side for about a week or two. I then kept steering the front wheels lock to lock every once in awhile and eventually the niose went away. I think air gets traped in there and has to work its way out. I hope thats all it is for you. Give it some time.

Agree with above. Your supposed to turn the wheel lock to lock, and stop & start the car a few times while adding fluid to get the air out.

Turning it lock to lock did the trick? How many times? If UPS digs itself out of the snow today, I will have my tie rod end back on the car and the car back on the road tonight after a similar project (I left out the seals on the skyward-facing part of the engine due to time constraints but also had the steering rack rebuilt) so I want to be prepared in case I get the same symptoms.
Is your garage floor dry post-project so far? |

Cool. I am hoping to get to the rest of them soon. I do have a drop of oil on the floor post-project, but most likely it's remaining drops flowing down from when I stupidly spilled steering fluid while trying to get the clamp back on the line into the steering pump from the reservoir. I put a piece of white paper down to find out, although it is dry overnight. Still, before the project I had at least 8 independent drops of oil on the floor every morning. It's a big improvement so far thanks to Oleg's article.
