stripped alternator shaft fixes

my 95' 993 spit up the alt belt so i decided to change all 3 belts, ordered the belts and special 12 sided tool from pelican. the 12 sided tool wouldn't go in beyond about 1/8", so it was useless. i resorted to using an allan which at 1st seemed to be holding but the nut is really locked on (assuming it is not reverse rotation). the shaft gave in and its now stripped. i have been thinking of ways around buying a new alternator, would tapping a bolt with a head thats a little smaller than the shaft work or ?.

There is just not enough space to rig something up with the alternator still on the car. Besides, the threaded end of the alternator shaft is too short. I would just cut the old belts and pull the alternator out for modification by a machine shop.
