Smile My first 964

Ok, it is a bit pre-mature, but want to start up a thread anyways

After scouting the whole country and having a budget, I finally found one here in TX. I had 2 big no-no's. First no Guards Red, second no convertible...

Originally was in the market for a C2, and I wanted one that needs a little TLC, but cosmetically in good shape. I can do a lot of work myself, but not into body work.

Anyways, looked at a few cars, talked to several people all over the country in the name of picking up a 964. As we all know, the market is very unpredictable. People who have nice 964 have all the rights to name the price. Eventually someone will pay for it. However, I came to experience a lot of beat up cars with stupid asking prices. Finding the right one can take a long time. And I have been in the hunt for a while.

Friday night, I was doing my daily routine online and checking what is available. After a brief search, I came across this GR C4 Cab. Only one picture. The picture sucked. So I went to bed, and woke up, immediately the Cabriolet came to my mind. I ate breakfast, went to work, worked, came back home, trying to reason with myself on a Cabriolet. Looked online for many pictures, thought about the drawbacks, advantages.....etc. At one point I said to myself, "at least contact the people who own it and see what kind of car it is. If it has any hair on it.". It was already 8 pm on Saturday so instead of bothering them, I just sent a text message, asking if they would call me back. I was totally assuming the text went to a cell phone but not a land line.

While looking through bunch of threads here, and trying to trick myself, I get this phone call from the owner of the 964. Very nice gentleman. He sounded VERY honest with every little detail he told me. He has taken bunch of pictures upon my request and text ed them to me. He told me the history of the car. He pointed out thee faults on the car. At some point we started to about some other stuff. So we clicked pretty good. I asked him if he has any obligations on Sunday, he said come on down right in, game his address and i assured him i would be out there before 10am. The distanse is 251 miles.

So I wake up in the morning, ready to go, a storm started followed by hail. I said no way i am diving into the hail. Texted the gentlemen, and told him in a couple of hours I would head out there.

Loaded on energy drinks, made the trip in 3 hours. Beautiful Montgomery TX, and Conroe. The owner of the car was waiting outside their house, We shook hands and started talking about the car. He showed me some flows, I pointed out what I was concerned.

We were very respectful to each other. I actually enjoyed spending time there.

We took the car fir a long ride. everything was werking perfec. Automatik top works, spoiler works. A/C blows hot so we willhave fix it. There is oil leak under the tray, but the oilhs msde it way on the ground, so no puddles.

Interior Recondition needed, There are some spot with rock chips can be fixed easily

oil leaks not too much concern to me, they all leak, and i intend to rebuild this engine and share pictures with you.

Owner and I set down, picked sigar, and a few back and forth work exchanges, we shook hands,

it was a gear experience, Driving the car was it. I was sold. That whole "never a convertible" diminished and then transvestite itself into a guards red.

I have sent my payment to them. Wednesday I will get it into my possession. I will be updating this thread with C4 Cabriolet ownership. I will share my repairs, mods, road trips........etc.

Thanks for reading. Next Pictures.

I can handle the convertible, but I draw the line at my Porsche wearing women's clothes!

Great experience, congrats!
