Where can I buy just a clutch slave bleeder valve?

My clutch slave is about seven yrs. old, but the bleeder valve is almost rounded off. I really, really don't want to replace the clutch slave. I can't find just the 7mm bleeder valve anywhere. Speed Bleeder doesn't list them on their site. Anyone have a good condition one laying around or know where I can buy a new one?

Rick,
Take your old bleeder out, measure the thread pitch and length; any decent automotive shop should have one for you.
If you dont have the tools to measure, just take the bleeder to an auto shop, they'll fix you up. It doesnt need to be a Porsche speciality shop. Japanese cars are metric too.

I don't think I'm willing to take that bleeder out for longer than it takes me to screw the new one in. I don't want this to turn into having the car disabled. I need to have the part in hand, make a quick swap, quick bleed and done. It's my only car and I use it most in summer when I need a/c instead of riding the bike in this furnace of a climate. A guy from Rennlist mailed me one years ago, but it was kind of rounded off too, so I didn't install it. But now I can't even find it to measure it.

I've got a 964 clutch slave that was working fine when I replaced it. It seems like they are the same for a 993, correct? If you are interested I'll try to find it.

Yes, I bet that would work. Thanks. I'd be happy with just the dimensions and thread pitch.

Excellent info. Why stainless? Does it matter? I need whatever is harder for a wrench to round off. Thanks.

I did stainless because the thing is way up there, can get nasty and thought that it would be less likely to corrode, it was only a few bucks more..probably wasnt necessary ..it isnt necessarily the wrench rounding it off..it may be the operator of said wrench :-)

I got a set of flare nut wrenches from harbor freight, the SAE set seems to fit these best..,

I just replaced the slave on my 964 Turbo. I think I still have it and am happy to pull the bleeder out and mail to you for free if it will work. Let me know.
7mm wrench is perfect for the ones I've done.

Thanks, but I think I'm gonna go with the Speed Bleeder version, since I have the dimensions now. I'll keep my old one for future reference.

The valve you need is the same one I am trying to find for my '88 Carrera. (I assume, since the slave cylinder part number is the same). It is available under other manufacturer part numbers:
ATE 03.3518-0100.2 Breather Screw / Valve

I found the Mercedes one on eBay in the UK. Every place I tried here in the US is a special order. I have had one on order from Pelican for weeks.

Isn't that same size as the one in the eBay link for a Speed Bleeder?

They do look almost the same size.
Are not speed bleeders more likely to leak? Since I always use a Motive pressure bleeder, I can't see any reason to risk leakage for no gain in convenience.

OMG! The same auto parts stores also sell a small pkg of plugs/caps for less than $3
Maybe you need to take this job to a mechanic

It really all depends on who is wrenching on your car...A hamfist has no place on a 7mm bleeder valve. I see boneheads over tighten bleeders all the time. A simple snugging should be all it takes to close one of these valves.

Maybe the generic auto parts stores in SoCal have a range of metric bleeder valves, but not elsewhere. Take a look at NAPA, for example.
