Make sure you replace the bearing in the transmission before installing another motor!

Free bump..

I've got a spoiler that operates intermittently, so could you please elaborate 964TargaC2?

Red Coupe,

These motors rarely go bad, what ruins them is the bearing in the transmission, in which Porsche "thoughtfully" used a open bearing. If your spoiler is noisy its that bearing, replacement is cheap and fairly simple

I ignored mine, sounded like a coffee grinder, motor seized..fuse never blew either!

See here for further
Noisy Spoiler Drive on Porsche 964 & 993

I got my spoiler bearing (Sealed type )at FLAPS for about six bucks..used #M weatherstrip adhesive and a couple of zip ties to hold transmission together..

Thanks much 964TargaC2! My spoiler is pretty quiet when it operates, but it is inconsistent. I have assumed that the problem is electrical, but I will definitely check the bearing and gearbox as well. Thanks again for the info!
