993 Oil Level

Hi everyone, I hope someone has an answer to this conundrum: Just replaced the CHT sensor (what a joy that was), reinstalled all original left bank heating/fan parts, and double checked all connections. But now the Oil level indicator is pegged to the max even when the car is at normal OT's. Is the sensor toast? Or is it simply a bad connection? Thanks for any input to this issue. Randy

CHT sensor?

The Oil Level is determined by the float in the oil tank. It is known to not give valid readings over time .

How does the oil level read on the dip stick (with the oil hot, engine running, on level ground)?

Thanks BD. Yeah, the Cylinder Head Temp sensor was reading 280 degrees so I replaced it. Turns out the battery had seen better days and was not fully charged. Charged it, ran the car to normal OT's and the Oil level came back in line to around mid level. Car starts and idles great but still stumbles heavily under full throttle. Hmmmm...

Sorry BD, I meant "280 degrees at startup"

Randy,
I have noted that if i disconnect the battery for extended periods or let it go flat for some reason, I also initially get driveability issues.
A full recharge and a bit of driving in Fallbrook / Rainbow typically resolves any issue.

Peacock10, you may want to check out rennlist forums too, as there is a much more active (bring you thick skin for newbies) 993 group over there. Pelican is good for parts and cars for sale, so I watch both.

If battery went dead, there is a "drive loop" to reset smog codes, not sure that would cause stumble. Tie to check for codes and misfires. One spake plug is a ***** to change & may discover it gets "skipped" :-P
