Porsche 964 - 993 RS front brake disc difference

Can anyone here tell me the difference between a 964 RS and a 993 RS brake disc?

I'm installing uprights onto a 964 with 993 front calipers, but now the position from the brake disc towards the brake caliper is not correct anymore.
The caliper is ± 15mm in offset with the disc.

If anyone can take a picture of both difference discs and check the height difference; this would help me a lot

Regards
Porscheke

Hi, have you checked out Bill's very comprehensive thread here?

I'm pretty sure you'll find what you need in there, it focusses very much on the n/a 964 vs 993 chassis topics....uprights, brakes, etc.

994 rotors don't have the same o/s as 964 rotors

so to fit 993 calipers on a 964 the rotor needed depends on the wheel carrier and caliper adapter if any
in general if you use 964 wheel carrier you use 964 or 928 rotors in front and 928 or 968 rotors in back and you use a caliper adapter w/ the correct o/s for that setup, if you use 993 rotors you need a caliper adapter w/ a different o/s

if you use 993 wheel carriers you use 993 rotors and of course no caliper adapter is needed

Hello Bill

I have the 993 uprights installed onto a 964.
I have 964 RS discs
and 993 brake calipers

They just told me I need to have 993tt brake discs and 993tt brake calipers to make them fit onto the uprights?

You can't use that combination

w/ 993 uprights you have to use 993 rotors, so if you have regular 993 calipers you use the regular 304x32 993 front rotors

if you have 993RS/tt red front calipers you use 993tt 2 piece front 322x32mm rotors

on a 964 you use regular 993 rear calipers on stock 964 rotors or on M030 968 rear rotors

also use 993 brake booster and m/c

Hello Bill

I have the 993RS/EVO uprights installed on the 964.
Sorry for the rough description.

Is there also the possibility of using regular 993 calipers?

Yes, there are 2 993 front wheel carrier versions
regular 993 for normal ride height cars
993RS for lowered cars

each has it's own unique version of the outer tie rod ends, hooked for regular and almost straight for RS

You can use either the regular 993 black or silver calipers w/ the regular 304x32mm 993 rotors or the red 993RS/tt calipers on either the 1 piece 322x32 993RS rotors or on the 2 piece 322x32mm 993tt front rotors, virtually everyone uses the 993tt or aftermarket 322x32s like the Girodiskc
