Turn signal assembly - 964 vs 993

Howdy,
I just got back from the Hershey swap. I took a chance and bought a turn signal assembly out of a 993 (993.613.353.00). I'm hoping that I can use it to replace my 964 assembly. Does any one know if the 993 assembly superseded the 964 assembly?

I checked the pins, connector plug, and number of stalks on the 993, and they match an assembly from a 964. I will say the shape of the 993 stalks are slightly different than the 964, but nothing you would really noticed if you didn't know any better. Anyhow, I see no difference between the two.

TIA,
HB
