Question low beam relay location on a 996?

Hi,

I posted this on the boxster board but had no response, maybe a 996 owner can tell me...

My '99 Boxster headlights are looking very dim when on low beam, but the high beams are fine though. Fuses look good, so I'm thinking its the relay - only I can't find the relay for the headlights. I checked the relays that are located in the driver footwell above the fuse panel by pulling them one by one to see if any had an affect on the lights. None did. Can anyone point me to the location of the low beam relay(s)?

Cheers,
jeff

more..

I looked at it again and if I pull the fuses for both head lamps, they have no effect, ie both head lamps are on (dimly) when the light switch is on. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Regards,
jeff

Jeff.

Shouldn't that be covered under warranty on a 99 model? I would opt for a short trip to a dealer and have them check it.

If they have to keep the car for the day you might even get free detailing... (At least that's the case at my dealer)

Of course, what might have happened is that both low beam bulbs (H7) have blown???? Anyway it's warranty, take it to the dealer.

I checked all the manuals we have for the Boxster and 996, but strangely Im missing the electrical sections on each model??
In the supplement I did find that the fuses are listed as below.
No listing for a relay.

Row A
Fuse # 1, 2, 9, 10

Hope this helps,
Don

That is because there is no relay for US. See my post on the Boxster board.

The poster is confused, or has a bad switch, or a bad ground. In that order.

a bright finish

Thanks to all who replied.

As it turns out, both low beam bulbs were blown. What are the odds? Pretty good I guess.

Cheers,
jc
