Climate control blows fuse when set to high

Hi everyone. I have had a problem for nearly a year, and am finally bothered enough to work on it. 1995 911, C4, Cab The climate control has never been right since I got it, but that's for another time. For a year, when selecting the high fan speed (AC or heat), the fuse instantly blows. It works as expected on all other settings. I can't find a thread that addresses this, nor can I see an obvious source. What should I start with? Thank you in advance.

That site is awesome, but doesn't cover blowing the fuse every time the fan is set to high. Thank you for pointing me in that direction though!

Tore is a regular both on Pelican and RL. He goes by ToreB. He's very helpful and a genuinely nice guy. If you can't find your problem in his troubleshooting guide, drop him a PM via the discussion list or email him via his website. I'll bet he'll have some suggestions.

Sounds like the blower motors are drawing too much amps. Make sure you are using the correct amp fuse. see requirements an back side of fuse cover. What fuse number is blowing? Check the current at fuse box with a multi-meter with fan is on then watch the amps as you turn up the fan speed. If draws more the fuse then change the blower motors. Mine wore out so bad they also made a lot of noise.

Mine was doing that also. I had taken my passenger side fan out to oil it due to squeaks. Fuse continued to randomly blow until I replaced the fan motor.

Isolate the problem, first disconnect one blower motor, and try it, if not then the other., Usually this is do to faulty windings/connections on them. Quote:
