It Looks Like a 964 Harness - Is it Tiptronic?

Hi,

I think I have identified this as a 964 harness. I am now trying to see if it is tiptronic or manual. I think there is an extra connection for the tiptronic harness near the DME 55 pin connector. Perhaps someone familiar with these harnesses can comment. Thanks!

I see that at the end of one connector there is a loop?

The loop is a bridge for the 2 pin switch. all tips will have 944.612.525.01, bridge to ground installed in that connector. The same harness could have been used on a manual trans car but there would be no bridge, ie open

What I am really trying to determine is if it good to use for a 964 engine in an older car?

I am starting to think that the harness is the same for tip and manual - the difference is in the plugs used?

From what you are saying, this harness can be used, I may need to change the jumper connection?

I would need to get one of these if it needs to be changed?

No, just pull both 2 and 3 pin bridges

For 964 w/ manual trans + cat both bridges are open

All that means is that the DME reads the O sensor signal and adjusts mixture accordingly. Whether or not the cat. is actually installed is irrelevant as the O sensor is installed pre cat in the exhaust flow.

If you don't want to use the O sensor info then yes, install 928.607.422.00 in the 3 pin spot, but you can do the same w/ a some wire. It's just bridge to ground.

I have spent a fair bit of time on this - thanks for clarifying. Your input was very helpful.
