Yet Another DME Question - Miles Don't seem to match - 996

Hello All-
Researching a 996 and the miles are 61k indicated, but the DME report shows around 140K km (approx 87k). Total operating hours are 2720, which seems consistent for 87k, but not 61k (at least from my research on this and other forums). Just wanted to get some opinions, any feedback appreciated. I plan on stopping at my local dealer tomorrow to get the service dept. opinion.

The Carfax and limited records appear pretty consistent but....

Maybe I am overlooking something? Or reading too much?

4018 range 1
1 range 2 at 500 hours

Maybe try the 996 forum for better info. This is an Air Cooled 911 forum

Maybe the gauge cluster has been replaced
The DME would be the accurate miles

Unless the DME has been replaced which is far less likely but definetly possible.

I'm leaning toward the DME replacement theory. I've heard they do fail (esp due to moisture) and the carfax appears to support the mileage on the odo. The Porsche world is a finicky bunch so I think I will pass on the car to avoid questions down the road...

I’d be concerned if the DME was replaced
It could be a flood car
Does the Carfax show it ever being in Houston?
Or New Orleans?
