Help please. Soft top gremlins....

Has anyone experienced their soft top not completing the cycle? It tries to latch then un latches and tries to latch again just keeps going through this sequence. It's driving me mad. I can close it with the alien key but it's not recognising it's closed and won't let me shut the windows. I have checked micro switches in the screen and the clam shell they seem fine and the latch is triggering the switch in the screen. Planning on checking some of the switches in the rear this weekend . Any help would be much appreciated.... Thank you my good Porsche friends in advance.

Hello Eddie and welcome to the forum! I'm attaching a link to 2 DIY tech articles from our site on the convertible top - I hope that you find them useful and they assist in troubleshooting the repair. Please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can assist with any future part needs.

Thanks guys. Yeah I have read the info there and seen another guy has the same issue. You mention switch sequence on one. They didnt reply to say whether they are fixed it or not thus not knowing where to look. Checked all switches to font of car and seem fine. Will find the rear ones this sat and meter out and make sure one hasn't come unseated. Do you know if the micro switch in the screen is supposed to be a double double click or single click as I remember in a bossed I had the front switch clicked twice?? Thanks again! Seems to be a common issue so you would think someone could just say where the problem is .. thanks again. Ed.

Your latch may have lost the plastic cover on the end, that makes it too short to press the switch. Try putting a popsicle stick in between the front latch and pushing the flap/cover while the latch is cycling.
You can also check the latch micro-switch by activating with your finger pressing on the flap covering the switch, if the switch is working you can put the back windows up with the top down.

Thanks for the reply. It's been on a piwis diagnostic and had a calibration all comes up ok. Even the indy can't get his head around it. I have to wait for another 997 cab to come in so they can swap some parts. Poss the convertible top ecu or even the latch motor assembly.
