Me-idiot
Bought used C4S: replaced AOS and was going to replace oil filler tube that was broken and had jury rigged fix. I violated basic rule. After remove remnants of old filler tube, I did not place rag in block. The short of it, a small bolt and small plastic piece fell into hole. NOW WHAT? I cannot see anything in the hole, and missing parts are not anywhere else on block. Will these fall to the sump, and then pull sump and retrieve?

Dropped bolt
Get ready to do an oil change. Drop the sump, retrieve drooped pieces and reseal. New oil and filter and your done.

Thanks so much...I am relieved to hear this. Next question...my friend about 3 miles away, has lift in his garage. Safe to drive to be able to do the pan easier?

You didn’t hear it from me... but... the oil pick up has a screen and nuts bolts etc. would be too large to pass through. That being said, any debris in the oil sump could get picked up by the oil swirling around and caught up in the timing chain etc. risky.
Any others care to chime in? |

Don't start it until you find it. You will not be lucky.

You might try a magnet on a long stalk for the bolt. The plastic is more problematical. Is it a straight shot down to the sump? If so, removing the sump is fool-proof.
