Fault Code P9114

Hi, can’t find any details on fault code P9114 on my Durametric applicable to a 2003 996 Targa. Durametric identifies it as a PCM issue which will not clear at all.
Car runs well.
Would appreciate any help and suggestions.
TIA.
Johan

P9114 is the code for an instrument cluster PCM control unit fault; it would be the controller, or it may have just lost its coding. If it is the latter, you will need access to a PIWIS to recode it.

Thanks JFP. What does the controller do? If the car is otherwise running well, will there be any harm to drive it until we have access to a PIWIS?
TIA
Johan

The controller is how the PCM communicates with the car, and in particular with the dash. Driving the car should not be an issue, but you may find some things simply do not work that typically interact with the PCM system.

Thanks again JFP. The check engine light miraculously disappeared and all is good now.
By way of background, this all started with a failing alternator which, as expected, logs fault codes just about everywhere. The new alternator cleared all faults save the one for the PCM. A long Italian tune-up drive today did the trick.
Cheers,
Johan
