Wrong additive for catalyst
Ok so I did something stupid. I wanted to use a fuel stabalizer to store the car for a couple of months but I used the Bardahl Classic which is also a lead replacement which is not suitable for cars with a catalyst. Will the catalyst of my 996 Turbo be broken by definition? Anything one can do to minimize the harm (besides pumping out the fuel)?
Thx! |

I see it's your first post so you may not be real . But will answer anyway . The small amount of additive into a full tank of fuel isn't going to harm anything . If the tank isn't full then I suggest you top it off to full .
When you drive the car when you get to 3/4 tank top it off , continue that once or twice and be done .

Don't beat yourself up,mistakes happen. The Bardahl Classic lead replacement additive isn’t ideal for catalytic converters, but using it once in a diluted amount likely won’t cause immediate or catastrophic damage. To minimize any potential harm, it’s a good idea to dilute the tank with fresh fuel ASAP and avoid running the car hard until that tank is gone.

The real issue comes from repeated use over time. Best move now is to dilute the tank with fresh fuel and run it through gently to minimize any potential buildup. If you’re really concerned, a fuel system flush might offer peace of mind. You’re probably in the clear though!
