99 996 Issues

Im looking at a 99 996 and have read some posts about problems, referring to the RMS.

What do I look for. The car only has 23k
What exactly is the failure.. oil leak? .. ??
What will it cause
How costly
Does Porsche fix it for free? ?
What are other things to Really Look at Closely!?

Hi....hope you still get this on time. RMS leak looks like a regular leak under the engine. Seepage alone can the RMS too. I don't think Porsche is fixing these if out of warranty anymore, however, I don't think the cost is the end of the world. Nor does it effect the performance of the car.....it's just a leak. Should run b/w 750 and 850. Many people wait until the clutch needs to be done.....it's a cinch when the clutch is being taken out. I think the actual number of rms incidents is over exaggerated.

Thanks for the info. However, I have decided to wait on a 996 and turn my 71 into a Daily driver w/ AC.
