Request help with radio and amplifier configuration

Hello

I got my 2000 Porsche 911 over a year and a half ago. After addressing the mechanicals, now I am looking into the audio system.

The car has a Pioneer AVIC-N3 stereo and a Rockford Fostgate P450.4 amplifier installed in the trunk. See pics below.

The problem is the sound quality sucks! It sounds like a cheap $40 boombox from Walmart with very little bass. Also the placement of the amplifier renders the baggage compartment almost useless!

The car also came with a mobile analog TV tuner, which was rendered useless when the federal government converted to digital TV in 2010. There is this TV wiring crawling on top, left and right sides of my front windshield. See pics of mobile TV wiring below.

What I want to do is:
1. Remove the useless analog TV tuner and wiring connected to the radio
2. Improve the sound quality
3. Reposition the location of the amplifier

I visited my local car stereo installer and they want to charge me $85 an hour and they said this could easily take the whole day!

Your suggestions on how to start this project would be greatly appreciated. Step by step instructions would be very helpful.

Sincerely

Al G

While I'm at it, if I need to remove or disassemble the center console to have more room to get at the radio, I plan to replace the 4 CD holders with something more practical, like drink holders. Is that doable?

How does the amplifier make the trunk useless? I have an alpine unit in the same place and the trunk is just fine. I put stuff on top of it all the time.

Your amplifier should be powering a sub-woofer. My Alpine does and my 2000 C2 rocks with the best of them. I have a bazooka sub-woofer (old time solution) planted behind the rear fold down jump seats. Mine also has the 6 speaker locations, 2 on the dash, 2 in the front doors and 2 in the back seats Plus the bazooka. The original owner added the Alpine sound system and Alpine navigation back in 2000. The navigation sucks but the sound is pretty good.

Dave, when you have a chance can you send me a photo of how your subwoofer is installed? I have a 2000 996 and am stumped to find any space in the interior of the car to install a subwoofer. Thanks

I don't really want to place my groceries, computer laptop bag, and misc stuff on top of my amplifier.
