Upgrading my sound system

Hello every one.

This is my first post here but I hope to get your help.

I am upgrading the sound system in my 1999 996 cabriolet .

The car originally came with standard sound system (not the Bose premium) which as all know - sounds very bad.

I wanted to upgrade the quality but on the same time stay close to he original so I decided to upgrade the system to original Bose which came as an option in this model and sounds good.

I have found used set of Bose speakers (all 6 speakers and the original separate sub) and an analog Bose amplifier (not MOSFET).
U
Every thing is ready to be installed into their original place with the original wiring.

The only thing I am missing now is the connectors which connects into the amplifier as my original connectors for the existing Nokia amplifier do not match the Bose amplifier .

I would appreciate any kind of help regarding the question when can I purchase the connectors for the Bose amplifier or if I need to buy the entire harness which agin I need the part no and description.

Last remark - I even don't know which used harness should I ask for in order to get only the connectors for the Bose amplifier from a salvaged car.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Hi Shauly,

My first post here but I can help you out. I recently did a full audio upgrade in my 996TT.

First thing you can do with the Bose audio system is chuck it out!

The Amp is located under the hood/bonnet next to the spare tire. I pulled out my original amp and replaced it with a JL-Audio digital 7 channel amp. I have a newer car so mine had fiber optic (aka. MOST) running from the head unit to the amp instead of traditional RCA cables or copper wire. I had to run a new set of RCA cables from the head unit to the amp location. I then used the exsisting copper wire from the amp to the speakers.

Once the amp was wired in I replaced the speakers, using the existing speaker wiring. I put Focal 4" 2 way speakers in the rear seats, I used Focal 5 1/4" separates up front. I pulled the factory speakers out the dash and just put the tweeter in there. I then pulled the original door speakers out and replaced them with the mid-range from the Focal separates. I put the Focal separate crossovers up next to the amp which made wiring easy.

For my head unit I went with the Alpine INE-Z928HD, which is their 8" top of the line Nav/Audio/Video/Camera head unit. It fits like a glove in the upper console. My car had factory Nav so I already had the climate control on the lower console pod. If your car does not have Nav and you want to add it, you'll need to move the Climate Control to the lower pod so the entire upper pod is freed up. I also replaced my CD case thing with a storage bin.

I had the factory sub in my car which I re-wired for 2ohm and used with my new amp. It's ok but i'll plan to replace this with a better box and sub.

Bose is not an upgrade.

Look into Focal or Boston Acoustics.
