Replacement engine number question
Hello - bought a 1999 C2 late last year- the seller gave me a copy of an invoice where Porsche replaced the engine in 2001 due to an internal coolant leak. The invoice shows the replacement engine number as M660166X16044. I thought that all these engine numbers started with M96. Thoughts? The car is stored right now, so I am unable to check the engine number for myself.

Thanks Tony- The only intrepretation that I can think of is that the M66 prefix is a typo-should be M96. The other numbers make sense after looking at your reference.

I agree. The engine stamping has to be M96 xxx etc.
