Are all tips the same for the different cars they are fitted into, same tranny for the Boxster and the 911? Have the transmission had any major changes since its introduction and what year were these change(s) made?
Anything specific to look for when looking at a car with a Tip? Any Tip experts out there? Finn

Depending upon the year, there were different design Tiptronic gear boxes used in these cars. The Boxster and 911 are different only in the differential area as the 911 engine is behind the gearbox and the Boxster is ahead of it.
What I would be looking for is evidence of regular and early (way before the factory recommendations for mileage) services on the trans. Too many of the Tips die simply because the fluid and filters were left in the cars way too long.
